I had always wanted to have a crew of singers and players who could scramble together at a moments notice to cram on a revered artist at a milestone moment. This is the result of my taking the time to shoulder tap singing ladies that were in orbit at the time. I am not a piano player and so it was an incredible challenge for me to pull my shit together and be prepared to back these ladies out. One great fortune was in having Josh Jones come in on drums. He pretty much knows Laura Nyro material like the back of his hand, so it wasn’t much to slide in as our drummer. Jamila (lead on both selections here) , Shivani & Annie make up The Brill Belles. This was performed @ Revolution Cafe on October 18th, Laura Nyro’s Birthday. I play piano on Wedding Bell Blues and guitar on The Confession. Though you can barely hear it here, John Seabury is playing bass. He dropped in at the last moment and crammed a couple of hours before the performance…Anyway, it was a great honor to share my love and appreciation for Laura Nyro in this way.
 

This is incredible! A wonderful testament to Laura.
