mother earth (live) by laura nyro
do you believe in mother earth, child?
“I’m not interested in conventional limitations when it comes to my songwriting. For instance, I may bring a certain feminist perspective to my songwriting, because that’s how I see life. I’m interested in art, poetry, and music. As that kind of artist, I can do anything. I can say anything. It’s about self-expression. It knows no package - there’s no such thing. That’s what being an artist is.”
- Laura Nyro, October 18, 1947 — April 8, 1997
“I love you too. I love you too. And you know, no matter how insane the world seems or, you know, how bad the times seem, the vibration that you people put into the world is…is very important. It…it all goes down in the book of life.”
- Laura Nyro, October 18, 1947 — April 8, 1997
On this day sixteen years ago, the world lost one of the most creative, inventive, intelligent, beautiful, talented, and gracious women to ever walk the earth. Laura, I for one will never forget you; you have changed my life. All my love.

December’s Boudoir - The Documentary
December’s Boudoir shows the Bronx Madonna as eclectic personally as she was musically: gentle but fierce, social but very private, a pure innocent who also possessed great worldly knowledge and sensuality. She wrote with a visual artist’s eye and the highest and hardest goal she set for herself was to “live a life with art in it.” The spirit that animated her tried to break through in every direction: vocally, emotionally, personally, politically, artistically. Call it passion, jumping off a cliff or the fury in her soul, Laura always goes there and she takes millions of adoring fans with her. (x)
